1) Oshiomhole attacks APC chiefs plotting his removal


The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, on Sunday raised the alarm over what he described as a plot against him by unnamed party stakeholders.

The alarm was sequel to news reports that some high-ranking party stakeholders including some close associates of President Muhammadu Buhari and some unnamed state governors were plotting to ease him out.


2) I won’t return to court for trial –Nnamdi Kanu


The leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has vowed not to return to the Federal High Court in Abuja where he was standing trial before he left the country.

The Federal Government had charged him with treason but Justice Binta Nyako granted him bail after 18 months in detention.


3) EFCC arraigns Fayose today, Obanikoro, others to testify against ex-gov


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has assembled 22 witnesses to testify against the immediate-past Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, in court.

The anti-graft agency is set to arraign the former governor before the Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday (today) for an alleged fraud of N2.2bn.


4) Okonjo-Iweala asks politicians to stop using her name


Former Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, yesterday, told Nigerian politicians to stop using her name to advance their objectives. 

She said through a statement by her Media Adviser, Mr. Paul Nwabuikwu, that fake newspaper articles, quotations and audios were being circulated in her name and that the public should disregard them.

5) Lasaco Assurance to raise N10bn additional capital


LASACO Assurance Plc is  set to raise N10 billion additional capital through its existing and new shareholders. 

The company which planned to raise the additional capital through public offer, special placement or right issues and preference shares, said the move is part of plans to be a tier one player by the time the Tier-Based Minimum Solvency Capital (TBMSC) takes off.

6) Ashley Young: Manchester United must attack Juventus


Ashley Young has urged Manchester United to build on their strong performance against Chelsea by setting out to attack Juventus in Tuesday’s Champions League clash.

After going behind in the first half on Saturday, Jose Mourinho’s side struck back with two goals from Anthony Martial, but were denied a victory at Stamford Bridge when Ross Barkley struck late in stoppage time to seal a 2-2 draw.


7) Muhammadu Buhari mourns late Justice Idris Kutigi


President Muhammadu Buhari has sent a message of condolence to the family of Idris Kutigi, the former Chief Justice of Nigeria who died on Saturday in London.

Buhari’s message was revealed in a State House Press Statement by his spokesperson, Femi Adesina.


8) ‘Kwara govt to prosecute Offa robbery suspects’


A Nigeria Police Force said yesterday that it was waiting for the Kwara State Attorney-General to take over the prosecution of the suspects in the Offa robbery.

It said the fate of the suspects would be decided by state Attorney-General.


9) EFCC, ICPC urged to probe bribery allegation against Ganduje


The  Kwankwasiyya Youth Wing has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) to commence the probe of the Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, over video clips showing the Governor allegedly receiving $5 million bribe.


10) Labour Insists On N30,000 Minimum Wage, Begins Nationwide Strike Nov 6


Organised labour, comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC) and United Labour Congress (ULC) yesterday resolved to resume its nationwide strike, November 6, if the federal government fails to agree on the N30,000 minimum wage.

In a statement jointly signed by NLC President, Ayuba Wabba, TUC president, Kaigama Bobboi and ULC president, Joe Ajero, labour accused the government of sabotaging the quick passage of a new minimum wage.


11) Tension In Police As IGP Rejects DIG Promotions


Indication has emerged that tension is building up in the police force as the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris has rejected the promotion of an Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIG), to the next rank of Deputy Inspectors General (DIG) by the Police Service Commission (PSC) without his recommendation.
